A cool evening breeze, a brilliant Carolina sunset reflecting over the water and a friendly flock of Purple Martins – that’s life at Lakeport.
About Chapin
Chapin borders the northern shores of beautiful Lake Murray and is convenient to downtown Columbia — South Carolina’s capital
city — by way of I-26. The friendly atmosphere of a small town and rural community attracts new home owners to Chapin. Boasting some
of the finest schools, with the highest test scores in South Carolina, Lakeport is located in Richland-Lexington District Five.
There’s no shortage of dining, retail, or entertainment opportunities when living at Lakeport, given the proximity to Harbison
Boulevard, Bower Parkway and Columbiana Centre in adjacent Irmo, South Carolina.
In addition to outstanding parks and recreational facilities, outdoor activities are boundless on Lake Murray, including swimming,
fishing, skiing, island-hopping and all sorts of boating.
Covering 78 square miles with 649 miles of shoreline, Lake Murray was constructed between 1927 and 1930. This 48,000 acre lake in the
heart of South Carolina is fed by the Saluda River and supplies energy to two power plants owned by South Carolina Electric & Gas
Company (SCE&G). At the time of completion, Lake Murray was the world’s largest power reservoir.
